The garden is nestled on a former granite quarry at an altitude of 650 m. Tons of earth and patient work have allowed several thousand perennials, bulbs and plant rarities to be planted in a succession of very different atmospheres, while maintaining a link with the enchanting environment of the Vosges forest.
The smallest of the Vosges lakes, it covers an area of 0.5 hectares. Lake Fischboedle is located at an altitude of 794 meters above sea level above the Wormsa Valley. A scree slope flows into the lake, giving it an alpine feel.

The site was used for the preparation of the pastes used in the manufacture of Sarreguemines earthenware. Since 1998, it has housed the Museum of Earthenware Techniques.
Of glacial origin, Lake Blanchemer belongs to the commune of La Bresse, known for its ski slopes. In winter, snow covers the lake and gives it the appearance of a white sea, hence the name Blanchemer!
