The garden is nestled on a former granite quarry at an altitude of 650 m. Tons of earth and patient work have allowed several thousand perennials, bulbs and plant rarities to be planted in a succession of very different atmospheres, while maintaining a link with the enchanting environment of the Vosges forest.
Of glacial origin, Lake Blanchemer belongs to the commune of La Bresse, known for its ski slopes. In winter, snow covers the lake and gives it the appearance of a white sea, hence the name Blanchemer!
